Join Professor Pipette as she investigates, observes, and graphs changes in matter. For this purpose, she will conduct an experiment where she will measure the weight of butter, chocolate, and ice before and after they change state. The results show that regardless of the change that occurs when heating, cooling, and mixing of substances, the total weight of matter doesn’t change.

This video satisfies the 5-PS1-2 requirement of fifth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:  5-PS1-2. Measure and graph quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that occurs when heating, cooling, or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved.
