In this video, Sabrina Cruz will introduce the students to matter. By definition, matter is anything that has a weight and takes up space. Technically, everything around us is matter. Matter exists in three different states  solid, liquid, and gas. Unlike solids and liquids, gases may not be seen or felt, but they do have weight and volume. To prove this fact, this video features simple experiments using air filled balloons.

This video satisfies the 5-PS1-1 requirement of fifth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:  5-PS1-1. Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen.
