Matter is all around us. Join Sabrina Cruz as she elaborates what makes up matter. Matter is made up of tiny building blocks called particles. These very tiny particles define the properties of matter, such as its shape and size. When these particles are closely packed with each other, they form solids; when they are loosely packed, they form liquids; and when they have large spaces among them, they constitute gasses. An object made of matter can change its properties, when it changes states.

This video satisfies the 5-PS1-1 requirement of fifth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:  5-PS1-1. Develop a model to describe that matter is made of particles too small to be seen.
