Every single object is made of different materials that have observable properties. This video sorts and groups materials based on observable properties such as color, texture, and flexibility.  Students are encouraged to think about the suitability of materials for different purposes, such as clothing and housing, through the examination of materials such as paper, wood, plastic, metal, glass, fabric, and rubber.

This video satisfies the 2-PS1-2 requirement for second grade proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:

2-PS1-2. Analyze data obtained from testing different materials to determine which materials have the properties that are best suited for an intended purpose.
