Sound is the vibration of matter, which has mathematical properties such as wavelength, amplitude, frequency, and energy. These properties influence each other. For instance, the higher the frequency, the higher energy the sound waves possess. In this video, students will learn about the properties of sound waves and will observe how altering one of these properties changes the way the beads bounce on a speaker.
The video satisfies the 4-PS4-1 requirement of fourth-grade science proficiency.
Students who demonstrate understanding can: 4-PS4-1. Develop a model of waves to describe patterns in terms of amplitude and wavelength and that waves can cause objects to move.
