Have you ever witnessed the Mexican wave at a sports event? The simple action of people standing up and sitting down on their seats creates a cool display that travels throughout the stadium.  In this video, students will learn about waves and their properties. Waves allow energy transfer without transferring matter through series of vibrations that carry energy. Waves can propel through solids, liquids, gases, and vacuum. Two main types of waves are longitudinal waves and transverse waves. Some of the properties that define waves include amplitude, frequency, wavelength, and period.

The video satisfies the 4-PS4-1 requirement of fourth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can: 4-PS4-1. Develop a model of waves to describe patterns in terms of amplitude and wavelength and that waves can cause objects to move.
