This video will introduce the students to a process that has dramatically shaped Earth’s land for billions of years – weathering. Weathering involves the breakdown of rock and soil into smaller pieces through mechanical and chemical means. Running water, ice grinding, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and blowing winds are some of the processes which cause weathering. Earth is a very dynamic place; join to see how it weathers!

This video satisfies the 4-ESS2-1 requirement of fourth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can: 4-ESS2-1. Make observations and/or measurements to provide evidence of the effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation.
