Look at your parents, and then look at yourself. What do you observe? You are quite similar to them in most ways, but a little unique in others. This is common among so many other living things too! You can learn many different species of animals all over the world, and learn the difference and transformation of a baby animal to an adult while you watch this wonderful slideshow of parents and babies in the animal world and see if you can spot how they are quite similar but have distinct differences and uniqueness. In this video, you can see how animal parents, just like ours, take care, protect, and nurture their young until they are able to be on their own by how close and protective they stay around their children! Enjoy, and don’t forget to learn!

This video satisfies the 1-LS3-1 and 1-LS3-2 requirement(s) for first grade proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:

1-LS3-1. Make observations to construct an evidence-based account that young plants and animals are like, but not exactly like, their parents.

1-LS1-2. Read texts and use media to determine patterns in behavior of parents and offspring that help offspring survive.
