All living thing need some form of water to keep on living. In this lesson, Sabrina Cruz will define the types and sources of water. Water covers two-third of our planet, but this is mostly saltwater which is unfit for us to use. We need freshwater to keep us alive. In contrast to saltwater, freshwater contains very small amount of salt.  Only less than 1% of freshwater is available to humans for use. Therefore, we must use water wisely.

This video also features a fun activity where students will learn to spot the sources of water, such as rivers, streams, and oceans, on a map.

This video satisfies the 5-ESS2-2 requirement of fifth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:  5-ESS2-2. Describe and graph the amounts and percentages of water and fresh water in various reservoirs to provide evidence about the distribution of water on Earth.
