About 70% of the Earth is covered by water, but only a small percentage is drinkable. In this video, students will learn all about water, ranging from its chemical composition to its conservation. A water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water may exist as liquid, solid, or gas. Over 97% of the Earth’s water is not drinkable. Only 0.06% is available for human use. This limited amount of available freshwater stresses its conservation. If we work together, we can ensure there is enough water for everyone.

This video satisfies the 5-ESS2-2 requirement of fifth-grade science proficiency.

Students who demonstrate understanding can:  5-ESS2-2. Describe and graph the amounts and percentages of water and fresh water in various reservoirs to provide evidence about the distribution of water on Earth.
